MotionPotion turns any recipe from the spellbook into real keyframes on your timeline. Works in After Effects and Figma.

Two ways to install the plugin

After Effects

Listed on Adobe Exchange: official listing, one click, always the current build.

Install from Adobe Exchange

After install, open Window → Extensions → MotionPotion in After Effects.

Don't see MotionPotion in the Extensions menu?
  • Fully quit and reopen After Effects: closing the project isn't enough.
  • Confirm you're on AE CC 2022 (22.0) or newer.
  • Reinstall via ZXP Installer, or check the CEP folder path in the manual install steps.

Figma

Live in the Figma Community. Search MotionPotion or open the listing, one click.

Open in Figma Community

After install, open it from the Plugins menu → MotionPotion.

Don't see MotionPotion in your Plugins menu?
  • Give Figma a moment after installing: newly added Community plugins sometimes need a refresh to show up.
  • Search "MotionPotion" from Plugins → search, not just Recents.
  • Installed via the manual/manifest route instead? It shows under Plugins → Development, not the main Plugins list.

Prefer to install by hand?

Offline machines, locked-down setups, older builds — most people won't need this.

After Effects

Grab the .zxp directly, the extension package After Effects reads, open it with ZXP Installer, and it installs itself.

Signed in and don't see the download button? Ping us on Discord and we'll send it to you directly.

Or copy the extension folder straight into Adobe's CEP extensions directory yourself:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\MotionPotion

That folder may be hidden. In File Explorer: View → Show → Hidden items.

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/MotionPotion

In Finder, press ⌘ Shift G and paste the path to jump there.

Figma

Grab the plugin files directly, unzip them, and point Figma at the folder yourself.

Then, in the Figma desktop app:

  • Unzip the download — you'll get a folder with manifest.json, code.js, and ui.html.
  • Open the main menu → Plugins → Development → Import plugin from manifest…
  • Select the manifest.json file inside the unzipped folder.
Plugins → Development → Import plugin from manifest…

Manifest import only works in the Figma desktop app, not the browser. The Community install above works in both.

What you'll need on your end

After Effects

  • CC 2022 (22.0) or newer
  • Windows 10 / 11 · macOS 12+
  • Internet connection for the spellbook and ZXP Installer

Figma

  • Figma (browser or desktop app)
  • Desktop app only needed for the manual manifest-import fallback
  • Internet connection for the spellbook
